Camp Harbor View

CITs

For CITs

Hey, 14-year-old campers! Not ready to say goodbye yet? Well, neither are we!

Camp Harbor View’s Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program has been developed for former campers who are turning 15 before July 1, 2010 and would like to continue their relationship with Camp Harbor View during the summer and year-round, too.

Alumni campers are invited to fill out an application and join us at the camp for the CIT interviewing session during April vacation. We will talk about important life skills like writing resumes, interviewing, dressing for success, etc.

Then, there is the difficult task of narrowing down the candidates… If you are selected, you will be invited back to the camp for a fun day of training with the CHV Staff. Once you’ve learned CHV’s policies, procedures and expectations, you will be partnered up with a Counselor to help lead a group of campers during each session.

The CIT program has its own unique curriculum and activities. Each morning, instructors from UMass Boston will teach 75 minute long lessons in either English or math. There will also be a chance to visit UMass Boston to talk about going to college and planning for your dream job.

During the off-season, Camp Harbor View stays in touch with CIT’s. Starting in September, the 1st and 2nd year CITs are invited to monthly meetings during the fall, winter and spring. The meetings are a chance to have fun and keep in touch, while also revisiting skills and goals developed with the CHV Staff during the summer.

So, does the CIT program sound like something you might like to be a part of? We will be mailing out applications in January—just fill it out, send it back, and we will see you in April!

Growing up doesn’t mean you can’t still… HAVE FUN!
